Now that the weather is beginning to get warmer, people will want to get fi t and
back in shape after studying in their dorm rooms all winter.
A good way to do this is by walking.Redding offers a good selection of walking trails; the closest one to Simpson,(which is ideal for those without cars), is Lema Ranch, owned by the McConnellFoundation.

The address is 800 Shasta View Dr, down the street from the University. It offers beautiful scenery and a peaceful, secluded atmosphere. If you're looking for a more open and bicycle-friendly trail, the Sacramento RiverTrail is a good option.

A trailhead is located off of Middle Creek Road at North CourtStreet in downtown Redding or at the Sundial Bridge.

The Sundial Bridge, located on Auditorium Drive in downtown Redding by the Turtle Bay Exploration Park, is also a good place for walking. Not only does it lead to the Sacramento River Trail, but it also leads to the McConnell Arboretum and another
small trail.

Also, the Westside Trail near Placer Road is a scenic dirt trail in western Redding.
