Now, who hasn't heard of the Young Men's Christian Association? For those of you who suck at acronyms, this is simply the YMCA. If you still haven't heard of it, read no further. Go forth and become educated. You're in college, for heaven's sakes. But anyway, they're a great place for rock climbing, swimming, martial arts, yoga, exercise or pretty much anything. How do I afford this, you ask? And I answer: It could be free! If you manage to fill out an application, check up on it, and wait patiently for it to be accepted, three consecutive hours of volunteer work per week gets you a free membership. There is no better deal.
Eventually, you will be able to say with all honesty, it's fun to stay at the YMCA. See www.sfymca.org for details.
The Lema Ranch walking trails are a utopia for photographers, nature lovers, avid walkers or people who are stuck in their dorms and just want a change of scenery. Whenever I go, they're always relatively quiet, being emptied of other people, contributing to a pleasant atmosphere. No bikes or dogs are allowed, in order to preserve the wildlife. And, even better, the trails are located just down the street from the Simpson campus at 800 Shasta View Drive.
Get some fresh air, check it out and bring your camera.
You may be a fan of Dutch Bros. Your allegiance may lie with Starbucks. Whatever the case is, though, it's not a crime to try out a new coffee shop. The coffee shop in question is The Human Bean, located on 2180 Churn Creek Rd. Their coffee prices range from $2.00 for a large coffee to $3.75 for a large mocha, or other special-made drink. It's a small, out-of-the-way place, and it's not all that extraordinary. I guess I just like it because of the name, and also the fact that they always give you a chocolate-covered coffee bean with every blended drink.
For those who are bored or would like some addictive reading before they go to bed, do yourself a favor.
